School Meals
Key Stage 2 pupils can buy school meals at £2.45 daily. Please book and pay ahead via the Eduspot App. Reception and Key Stage 1 children receive a free school meal, but their choice still needs to be booked on the Eduspot App. The school menu is on our website.
Free School Meals
There is a statutory requirement for all state funded schools in England to provide free school meals to all pupils in Reception, Year One and Year Two.
We ask all parents/carers to fill in a Free School Meals and Pupil Premium registration form. This will enable us to register pupils who attract pupil premium.
Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax
- Credit or Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Parents who think they may qualify should contact the school family worker who can offer help and advice on a confidential basis. Even if your child does not take the entitlement to a free meal and has a packed lunch, you may be entitled to other benefits, such as free milk, holiday food vouchers and the school benefits financially for all children registered.
Packed Lunches
Children are welcome to bring a healthy packed lunch to school. To support healthy eating, please ensure lunchbox contents are nutritious and do not include sweets or chocolate bars. If you'd like advice on portion sizes or healthy lunch ideas, please come in and chat.
Fruit juice or squash are permitted in lunch bags for lunchtime only (no fizzy drinks). Please note that water bottles for classroom use must only contain water. Water is always available.
Parklea is a nut free zone as we have children who have airborne nut allergies.
Milk
Milk is provided free until children reach the age of five. Once children reach five, milk can be provided in the morning at a small cost. Milk is also free for children who are entitled to pupil premium. Milk is paid online on www.coolmilk.com.
Fruit
Children in Reception and Key Stage One are offered a piece of fruit or vegetable each day as part of the Government’s healthy eating initiative.
In Key Stage 2, children are allowed to eat a healthy snack during morning break, but these must be packed separately from lunch. Only fruit, vegetables and yoghurts are allowed.
Water
Children are all issued with a non-spillable water bottle when they start school, and they are encouraged to have this in the classroom. Children must only bring water into school where it can be refilled when necessary. Replacement bottles are available from the school office on either site for £1.50.
